Ohio State suspends Bosa, three others for season opener against Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech’s hopes of defeating Ohio State for a second straight year got a boost Thursday.

The Ohio State athletic department announced that four of their players would be suspended for their season opener September 7 in Lane Stadium.

Among the four is All-American defensive end Joey Bosa. The other three players are wide receiver Corey Smith and H-backs Jalin Marshall and Dontre Wilson.

Bosa compiled 21 tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks for the Buckeyes last season and was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.

The athletic department did not release the specific nature of the violations. Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer is expected to take questions at the first day of Big Ten Media Day later on Thursday.
