2011 / Collegiate Times
Virginia Tech’s Ice Hockey team announced its schedule on Monday afternoon.
The Hokies, entering their 31st season, will kick off on Friday, Sept. 23 on the road against Liberty. The team will open at home at the Berglund Center in Roanoke on Friday, Oct. 14 against Rider.
General Manager Chris Arnold said, “We are happy to be returning to the Berglund Center for our 22nd season. We are looking forward to continuing our long-standing relationship with the Berglund Center and Roanoke Valley Youth Hockey.”
The rest of the schedule features notable games including home games against Virginia, Rowan, NC State, North Carolina, Maryland and West Virginia, and road games against some of the same opponents including West Virginia, Maryland and Ohio.
The Hokies will look to improve on their last season's 14-12-2 record and 10th rank in American Collegiate Hockey Association’s Southeast Region. Tech will look to better its play at the Berglund Center, where Virginia Tech finished 7-6 last season.
To improve, Virginia Tech will need to start as well as it did last season as the team captured three of the first four games of the season defeating West Virginia, Akron and Wright University.
